THE INQUISITION

What you know about the Inquisition:

The Inquisition is the scariest force of righteousness that's.. still on the side of righteousness. Being in it at this stage only makes it a little less scary to you. The concepts of radicalism, factions, and so on are all beyond you. You know that Inquisitors operate somewhat independently, but are probably still naive enough to thing there's some sort of formal hierarchy to the whole ordeal. You are aware of the different Ordos and vaguely what they cover. Unless discussed in your backstory, you are not aware of the Tyrant Star. Please roleplay a general level of ignorance of all things covered by Forbidden Lores appropriate to your low or absent scores in those various skills.

Your present role in the Inquisition:

You are fresh meat. Mostly unproven fresh meat, to a man with agents uncounted. Your Inquisitor has seen the spark of promise in you, and invested valuable resources in seeing you outfitted and trained. That makes you better than a common soldier, but only if you deliver results. As brand new acolytes, your Inquisitor does not yet trust you with his seal of authority (a rosette). In general, you have no way to easily back up a claim of who you represent. If he believes you will need to prove your identity on a given mission, your Inquisitor will see you provided with a written carta. Otherwise, should you need to prove who you are working for, it will be a lengthy process involving astropaths to verify any claims you make to local authorities. Your master is a subtle man, and views unnecessary use of his power (the little you have being tied to his) as a very grave offense.

Your future in the Inquisition

(Okay you're the PC's. Obviously you're special.) In time you are certain to rise in your master and the Inquisition's eyes. But how far, and in what capacity, is not all linked to your cell's results. Some may desire to one day rise to a position of leadership in the holy Ordos, others may be content to gain more authority, better weapons, and be a martial force for justice. Perhaps others want to prove themselves to their own Divisio in order to be allowed access to greater secrets of the Machine God. It is okay if your character's goal is not to one day become an Interrogator, but keep in mind those who appear in the Inqusitor's eyes to be tools will be treated as such. (Of course being a tool of the Inquisition could be a means to your own different ends, and there are plenty of other people who might take an interest in you.)

Your opportunities for audiences with your master may be rare, but he only maintains such a wide network by forming his opinions based on the observations of those closer to the details. You don't know who is whispering in his ear about you, but you'd be wise to figure it out. And take advantage of it.

As the GM, I will avoid imposing an authority structure on the team unless strictly necessary (not a fun set up for roleplaying). But your master will do whatever it takes to see that you are doing things the way he thinks they should be done. And those who make a good impression on him will almost certainly benefit in some way, whether it is being the first to be entrusted with a personal rosette, or having their requests more efficiently granted.

Inquisition Politics:

I enjoy the politics of the Inquisition immensely, and there will be ample opportunity to learn about it and participate in it. Please help me by creating these opportunities, by asking questions in character (in appropriate situations), getting to know NPC's, and so on. Remember these people own your lives now, so it's natural to want to become more involved as time goes on. As stated before, I am open to side roleplay, general input about directions you would like to see your character grow in, and people you would like the opportunity to interact with.
